What are the benefits of Birch Bark?

There are over 50 different species of birch trees and 19 of them are native North America. It is a soft wood tree that is native to cold and northerly climates. Its name is most likely derived from the Sanskrit word “bhurga” which means “trees whose bark is written upon.” The inner bark is edible and often popular trees for fall and winter. Historically, Birch trees have been used for a myriad of things like boat building, birch tea, and even grounding down the inner bark to make flour.
